Our trademark Cabot brand has won the title of World's Best Cheddar twice - in 1998 and 2006 -- and has won every other major industry award when pitted against all other U.S. cheese companies, including those from Wisconsin and the West Coast.
Our farmers recently invested several million dollars in a dairy plant in Chateaugay, New York where our McCadam Cheese, brand of New York Cheddar is produced. Those investments are reaping returns -- McCadam was named "America's Best Cheese" in 2007 at the U.S. Cheese Championships and also won Gold at the 2007 New York State Fair. We also make Muenster, Havarti and other European cheeses at this facility.
Our farmers and employees work together to produce the world's finest cheeses, but we also capture valuable whey proteins at our $20 million whey protein plant that is part of our Middlebury, Vermont Cheddar facility. We use the whey from our cheese operations in Cabot, Middlebury, and Chateaugay to produce concentrated whey proteins and whey powders. These products are marketed worldwide from our offices in Wisconsin for use in baby formulas and other nutritional food applications.
